Abstract

The Appennino Lucano Val d’Agri-Lagonegrese National Park has a wide geodiversity with significant geosites that has been used to document the geodynamic processes in the Mediterranean area. The interest in the conservation and promotion of the geological heritage is increasing in the area. A possible future step may be the creation of a Geopark in the area of the Appennino Lucano Val d’Agri-Lagonegrese National Park. The knowledge and assessment of the geological heritage at local level is of vital importance; each geosite, in fact, may be relevant for the implementation of geo-touristic activities.
